Dewey Company established a woolen mill in the Quechee area, which stayed in the area for a long time. By 1936, this was the oldest woolen mill in the country. However, it closed in 1952 and moved its operations to Enfield, New Hampshire.
Soon after that, the construction of the North Hartland Dam and a park were initiated.
